Japan still does not allow gay marriage
Germany does not yet, either, though they recognized same-sex couples and give them more rights than civil unions in the US, though a law allowing gay marriage was rejected in 2010.
Italy does not allow it, either, nor does the UK or France.
France & the UK have bills moving forward that would allow it, however.
So, it's not just the US that needs to move into the 21st century.
