A Confederate flag is on display at the old Capitol, which houses the governors office and hosts government events.
RALEIGH, N.C. A Confederate battle flag hung inside the old North Carolina State Capitol to mark the sesquicentennial of the Civil War is being taken down after civil rights leaders raised concerns.
Cultural Resources Secretary Susan Kluttz said Friday night that the intent of the exhibit was to represent the State Capital as it was in 1863.
Kluttz said the exhibit was temporary. But since shes learned that Governor Pat McCrory plans to use the old House chamber as working space, the display will come down this weekend.
The flag was to remain on display through April 2015.
