An Indiana dad was accidentally shot to death by his 3-year-old son after the little boy got his hands on the loaded weapon as the family sat watching television, police said.
We have no reason to believe theres any foul play involved, Indiana State Police Sgt. Jerry Goodin told WMBF-TV. We think is purely a tragic accident that could have been avoided.
Michael Bayless, 33, was blasted with a single shot from his own handgun as he sat with his wife and their four kids inside their Salem, Ind., home, police said.

More appropriate, why was there a LOADED WEAPON in easy reach of a three year old.

(253 posts)I would bet my IRA that he was a Fox News fan.
And my name is Joe, not Jesus.

"Dad, change the channel from Fox News or I'll shoot you!"

(14,524 posts)... at least this time it was the "law-abiding, responsible" gun owner that's dead from the idiocy, rather than another child.
The Fox reference was kinda tacky, but it did make me chuckle anyway.

Earlier I got jumped all over for supporting the "cause" that those jumping on me are supposedly all about. I guess I wasn't extreme or militant enough to meet their standards. Damned if I know. What I do know however, is that they have now managed to alienate me from not just themselves, but also lending any support to their issues.

(16,350 posts)Sorry. But what kinda clod keeps a loaded handgun accessible to 4 children?
Which one is the good guy with a gun? So hard to distinguish.

You laugh or you cry. This guy was part of the problem.

(30,439 posts)If only the father was armed. This calls for armed security to be in all homes.
More guns in the home would have stopped this tragedy etc. etc. etc.
