But once in a great while, they get something right.
"The Missouri House has approved legislation intended to restrict use of aircraft for surveillance of people, farms and homes.
Law enforcement officials could use manned aircraft or unmanned aerial drones to gather evidence if they have a warrant or to prevent immediate danger. Journalists and news organizations would be barred from using unmanned aircraft for surveillance unless they have permission from the property owner.
Thursday's 87-66 House vote sends the bill to the Senate.
Supporters say the legislation seeks to protect privacy rights and prevent unwanted surveillance. Opponents said Thursday that the measure could hamper law enforcement."

Hopefully the Senate will pass this, and our nominally Democratic governor will sign it. Then may it serve as model legislation for the rest of the country.

(36,063 posts)Considering the resolution possible using virtual optics produced via computer I don't see any real difference.
Voting against drones seems pretty consistent with expression of the yeoman libertarianism that's behind the tea-party.

(36,063 posts)The potential resolution is astonishingly good.
Cheap drone technology uses cameras with resolutoin about as good as smartphone cameras, and it typically cannot take advantage of the wide angles involved in 'virtual apertures'.
It is true that a drone may be controllable outside the orbit dynamics of a non-geosychronous satellite and may provide more continuous hours of coverage.
BTW, I am definitely NOT in the "I don't care because I do nothing wrong' state of mind.
