Vote for the cowards, not the sociopaths?

(591 posts)It'll be right around the time many learn for the first time they have to file a little extra piece of paper with their 1040.
Think of the money that can be raised! A veritable gold mine.

(11,464 posts)One gets in a car, adjusts the seat, adjusts the rear view mirror, defogs the windshield, jiggles each side mirror, then drives.
One doesn't get in the car, burn it to ashes, then think they can just zoom away 100 miles an hour
Which point is not transparent to everyone?
What would Elvis have done?
What would Nixon have done?

(473 posts)From the White Stripes:
"I guess you have to have a problem
If you want to invent a contraption
first you cause a train wreck
And then you put me in traction
well first came an action
And then a reaction
But you can't switch around
For your own satisfaction
Well you burnt my house down
Then got mad at my reaction"
More in the song than that. But when you get mad because some of us are unwilling to put up with killing off old people than what else is there to say?

(11,464 posts)Nader is the common denominator.
2000 is the common denominator.
Because NO Bush and Gore weren't the same, though Nader said so a million times.
Denying that we are at we are at because of 2000 does not make it not true.
Cause and Effect= Nader threw the election, protest votes in 2010 gave us 5 draconian people or more including senators/governors that are the worst, and not seeing the light,
then doing the same the next time,
yeah, as Tommy Flannagan said "Yeah,That's the ticket". As it's future to the back.

or
What would LBJ have done different than Richard Nixon did after 1968?
(answer-NOT let the Bush's rise to power in the first place).
If there is a machine to rage against, one should first accept what will be there the day after
and make sure all the T's are crossed the I's dotted.
Not to rage in 1968 only to
then rage again in 1980
only to then rage again in 2000
only to then rage again in 2010
Which part of the easy equation is not evident?
Or better yet, don't like Bill Clinton in 1992?
Then why did the second most liberal state in the nation kill the last hope for Jerry Brown and Jesse Jackson back in 1992?
Do like Bill Clinton after he won?
Then why rail that he wasn't able to vote far enough to the left for those to like him, because of all that went on before him from 1980 to 1992?
It's not like Bill Clinton let Reagan/Bush take power.
One should have been thankful enough that Bill had the biggest upset at that time of all time in 1992 and got 8 years where they threw everything at him.
So easy to see in retrospect as the same old is again happening in a much worse obstructionist government against the President, where the repubs are going to again have to drastically LOSE in 2014 and 2016 to get things to change in Congress.
Therefore the corrolation is
doing what was done in 2010 is NOT the way to get anything near what those complaining the loudest want, but they are playing that card again, and unfortunately, playing that card leads to a stacked deck against the change they themselves want.
(yes, I know not many want to hear this, it's easier to scream and shout and rail and rage against the system).
One thing forgotten YOU (proverbial you, not individual you) are the system you are raging against.
Liberals like me are suppose to be smart enough to see that simple truth. (I myself see it).
This is so Gorby all over again.

(473 posts)Gore won. Blaming democracy for his loss is well...... not good.
And we are not talking about Bush.
If it comes down to voting for your own death then count me out. I was smart enough to see the republicans for what they were and stop voting for them in 1986 and I am smart enough to not vote for them now.
If you want to stop losing votes then stop supporting republican positions.

(11,464 posts)to quote #6
"That would be telling".
to quote Bing Crosby in White Christmas
"Everybody has an angle".
to use as an example It's a wonderful life
Authoritatrian criers and everything is the same criers would tell Clarence, don't save George Baily, because he is not a number, he is a free man and who wants a Nanny state intervening in his personal decision to (changing the location from the bridge to the voting booth) vote for Ralph Nader to prove they know better.
to quote Billy Joel
"A bottle of red
A bottle of white
Perhaps a bottle of rosé instead.
We'll get a table near the street
In our old familiar place"
at the voting booth in 2013 and 2014 I know who I am voting FOR.
I am not going in there and voting against just to return to the restaurant and ask the waiter to pour me another bottle of whine
BTW, even if there is a minute difference in the rates at the end of the day,
to not attempt to come up with a deal in effect is causing way more people to lose money day to day, than to sit tight and have it voted down because the votes are not there.
BTW, at the end of the day, Bernie Sanders is going to be the 60th vote if a 60th vote is needed, much like dennis Kucinich on Health Care was.
one is free to protest, however, like Kris Kristofferson said (C)
"Freedom's just another word for nothing left to lose"
AND the next morning or later that night, freedom allows one to howl at the moon forever in what that freedom gotten, meant lost for all including the one that claims they are free, when in reality they are not free at all, but still howling at the moon.
BTW-to add-
winning is being seated.
Saying Gore won is shifting the blame from Nader but still blaming something
ah, could it be you are blaming SCOTUS then?
BINGO- SCOTUS, the tell all to end all that Nader was a LIAR BIG TIME, because SCOTUS is the most transparent place where Gore and Bush and REpubs/dems are NOT one and the same.
Had we had Kagen/Sotomayer back in 2000 instead of 2 of the treachourous 5, do you think Gore would have been seated or not?
Please do tell. It would be telling.
A Simple Game
(9,214 posts)and stop supporting Democrats that support Republican positions.
meti57b
(3,584 posts)I never could understand why that was so hard to foresee.
In a two-party system, you either vote Democrat or you vote Republican. In our case, a vote for a third party is still a vote for a Republican.
Fumesucker
(45,851 posts)Perhaps if they distinguished themselves a bit more from Republicans then voters wouldn't be so tempted to go for third parties.
I remember the 2000 vice presidential debates, Joe Lieberman spent more time agreeing with Cheney than disagreeing.

Cutting grannies check and torturing her with poverty may be fun sport for wealthy politicians, but that is all it is, a fun sport of sociopaths.
In terms of the budget and deficits it won't reduce a dime any more than killing your dog will end male pattern baldness, they are completely separate issue.
SS has its own separate fund so it doesn't contribute to the debt or the deficit.

(9,933 posts)When we have a generation of workers who won't have pensions, Many who didn't have 401ks with a company match, who now live in a world were savings accounts earn .25 percent is cruel and an example of how out of touch the well to do who advocate for such nonsense are. We live in a world where one can give their best years to work yet never be able to retire unless they are lucky enough to have gambled in the stock market and won.
O and good luck saving for retirement (much less investing in a rigged market) when we continue to lose good paying jobs to other countries.

(7,412 posts)The Democratic candidates in those districts just flat out campaign against their opponent AND President Obama/his proposed SS cut. It's a win/win and a good strategy to take the House back and retain the Senate.
Then the Democratic candidate in 2016 can run against any cuts as well and look good.

Even though social security is NOT part of the deficit, though the liars want you to believe it is, if they wanted to solve any short fall in social security all they would have to do is raise the cap. Of course that is not their real intention, they are not beholding to the regular person but the corporation
