Why Drug Testing For The Poor is a Bulls*** Idea

http://bluntandcranky.wordpress.com/2013/04/10/why-drug-testing-for-the-poor-is-a-bulls-idea/

Snip: "Every time Mr. Blunt and Cranky sees one of those idiot Facebook posts about “drug testing welfare recipients”, his response is the same: first thing, let’s test the politicians. They get a lot more money than any poor schmuck, and can cause a lot more damage. And in the main, people applaud the idea of testing politicos. But they keep right on spouting the bulls*** “drug test the poor” idea.

So here’s one example of a hypocritical drug-test-the-poor politician : one Chuck Sims, just busted for his second DUI, and yep, a strong proponent of the aforementioned bulls*** idea. That idea, by the way, assumes guilt on the part of the recipient: and that drunken crook Mr. Sims is demanding that we assume that he is innocent. So we see that the whole drug-testing-the-poor campaign is a bulls*** idea, but people keep on spouting it anyway."

This should be forcefully challenged in every court where it happens. It is unconstitutional on its face.

Kinda like a guy that spends a hundred bucks on lottery tickets, and is ecstatic when he finally "wins" two dollars.

It helps serve the cause using divide and concur.
It feeds a basic human need to feel superior to somebody. Anybody.
If those welfare recipients didn't use drugs they would get off their buts and get a job and not need welfare.
See! I'm better than that.
Similar to the god gambit by which I'm better than you because I accept the bible on faith.

Not to mention that if you plan it out well one of you're companies will profit by the use of one the republican partys few products.

11. Testing is Great idea to create permanent criminal underclass

Let's face it, addicts are not going to quit cold turkey and then wait weeks or months to test drug-free in order to get food stamps. So... drug testing benefits recipients directly creates a permanent criminal class that is forced to steal not just for drugs but for food and housing as well. This is extraordinary stupid public policy.

10. The Constitution protects us from the government, but not from employers.

"I have to get drug tested for my job, why shouldn't they get drug tested?"

The Fourth Amendment requires the government to have probable cause to do a drug test, but the only protections you have against employers are the ones you negotiate, either individually (good luck with that) or through collective bargaining.

It's pitiful and amazing how Americans have fallen into this notion that they have to pee in a cup to be able to get a job at Walmart. We didn't do that before the 1980s, you know, the Reagan era.
