The leaked 2006 Citigroup plutonomy memo clearly states that the very rich most fear in the short term, organized and active campaigning by citizens against income inequality. The "tea party" have been proven to be a child of the Koch brothers, among other PAC groups, designed to force their selfish goals upon everyone through the political system. There are indeed those who will always vote, will out of ignorant outrage always phone and write their representatives, and the Kochs and similar always cater to them, fully understanding their value.
The system is not yet entirely owned. It is responsive to massive campaigning. Dislike where the democratic party or democratic representatives are going, and want real change? Worried about a dis-union in the party? Then unite under New Deal values and yes, call congress right fucking now and keep calling and visiting their offices and writing and letting them know you will not have it any other way. Period.

(14,087 posts)the twisted agenda. Target one at a time those corporations that are giving gazillions to the republican/conservative democratic candidates, and slam them in e-mails and social media.
It's the money...hitting them in the pocketbook, is all that matters to them. We have to put pressure on those people who run for EVERY public office. We need to form PACs and "think tanks" and get them quoted....like the other side does.

Call and write to Congress.
And whenever and wherever you can, boycott the "Privateer Pirates."

(19,841 posts)I think that IS the way to go, but how?
Every liberal group who tries meets the iron fist of opposition. I mean, we are not dealing with Democracy here.
How do we rally around inalienable MORAL principles in a society when the leadership does not subscribe to morality?
We don't have the churches promoting the liberal cause.
We just have to come together somehow.
