Just IMO, if you have a social media profile of any kind (other than perhaps on LinkedIN), you should NOT use your actual name on them for the simple reason that employers will Google and look for them and if they don't like your hobbies, politics, or religious beliefs or who knows what else, they won't hire you based on what they see. Some people use completely separate profiles for personal and professional use (probably more work than most people have time to do though).
On LinkedIN, you can put your professional info/background that an employer needs to see. I know people though, who won't use LinkedIN either.
Regardless - here are things employers are being advised to look for in prospective employee's social media profiles - informed is forewarned:

If you aren't friends with me you can't even see my pic on Facebook. Even among friends, posts and other items are often tailored to a specific audience. Facebook, for all its issues, has some rather effective privacy controls.
I'm on Twitter under an assumed name and only follow celebrities.

(13,524 posts)I don't have much of a profile either. No job listing, no employment history. That's what a resume is for, not something "social". I usually don't even have my face on the profile, generally is a picture of my dog (she's cuter anyway). Though my dog is nude in all her pictures, hopefully that's acceptable for a Border Collie.

It's a good way to weed out employers who think invading their employees personal privacy is okay.
