(75,480 posts)did because they were basically doing their job and following the orders of their superiors. It's those guys we should be upset with, the politicians and industrialists who push the police department to crack down on protesters. When I belonged to a union and we went on strike, we did have some incidents between union hotheads and scabs. The cops had to arrest those involved and push the rest of us back. But at other times they would bring us sodas and news that they were getting about the negotiations. They were on our side. They just had to do their jobs.

(8,244 posts)I think the goal for protesters like OWS ought to be get the cops to join you. Or at least to like you enough so they would refuse to shoot you. Sometimes at a protest people get arrested but there's a civil way to be arrested where you can maintain a mutual respect with the cops.

(13,570 posts)It brought some needed light to an issue, but what did it become? Messing up parks, thus pissing off the general citizenry and local government, and NO continued political movement.
Little to NOTHING is its legacy. Don't waste time and energy with protests. ORGANIZE POLITICALLY.

Try taking the blinders off and you'll see the a much broader perspective.
