Edit to add: Few actions by groups, or even individuals, are perfect, as some of those involved are often guilty of some sort of hypocrisy, but I applaud this action even though there are still many examples of violence and inequality in their midst...there are examples of that everywhere, unfortunately. I'm embracing good when I see it, and using it to encourage more of the same...or better.Kurdish men in Iran have launched a Facebook campaign to send a message: being a woman is nothing to be ashamed of. The "Kurd Men for Equality" campaign was started in response to a judge's ruling that forced a man convicted of domestic abuse to wear women's clothing as a form of public humiliation.
According to Global Voices, a local court in a Kurdish province of Iran ordered the man be escorted through the streets while wearing a red dress and hijab. Since then, Kurdish Iranians have organised on Facebook to speak out against the ruling, which they say is demeaning to women.

good for these men to get this, something a little more subtle and not a big deal, why it is so relevant.

(20,629 posts)5. K&R. Kind of a take on the "Walk a Mile in Her Shoes" campaign that's
gained traction here in the U.S. and Canada.
