It remains one of my fondest political memories. I know it was one of the happiest political moments in my life. I felt so many bad things lifting as they lifted off the ground. It felt as good as watching Reagan leave and almost as good as watching Tricky Dick resign.

They are back, the bad feelings, but life does go on and small moments like the one you just posted are always treasured to look back on.

I remember hearing that song that day - emanating FROM THE CROWD.

From the CROWD!!! As that helicopter lifted off. You could hear it on TV, during the live coverage. People in that crowd saw and responded - just spontaneously breaking into song as that helicopter lifted off, carrying those detestable people away. I couldn't believe it! I was so proud, and happy - just the capper of a GREAT day when we were starting over with a NEW President - one for whom I'd voted and worked and donated! It felt like a huge release from a long, miserable, arduous hostage hold. I felt as though I'd just been released from jail or something. My son was there as a Presidential Scholar, and he called me about that - from there where the crowd was singing. He told me he sang along - and he knew I would approve! AND I DID!!!!!

What a great day - and a SUPER-GREAT moment, capping off a great day! Like a jumbo-sized hot fudge sundae with a cherry on top that was the size of a basketball!

Yes, it was a great burden lifted from our souls that day. I have a few friends who think he will go down in history as one of the greatest. LOL, out of all my friends there are 2. Many who voted for him but they don't ever say a thing about him. Thankfully those 2 are only online friends who I adore as we do our mutual things but can't stand their politics nor them mine.

While I too applauded the Departure the evil ones I realize that there is little substantive difference between either Corporatist administration. Bush and Obama are bought and paid for by corporate interests. Obama really fooled many Ito thinking he was any different from Bush. Most of Bush's policies have been kept or expanded by Obama. It's great theater when both sides act as if there is a great divide between Obama and GOP when in fact they work for a very small and powerful segment of the population. Nothing meaningful will change as long as there is no campaign finance reform. Meet the new boss ,same as the old boss. Obama disappoints.

It amazes me to see so many people who really believe that just because Obama is a Democrat then represents traditional democratic values, when in fact he is not your daddy's democrat. Problem is that today's democrats would be yesterday's republicans. This country has taken such a hard right turn in the last 30 years that today's democrats easily resemble the republicans of the late70's. To think that there is real substantive difference between Obama and the GOP is to have ones head buried very deeply in the place where the sun don't shine. For any true progress to be made on so any fronts we must dump both Dem's and GOP because they both stand in he way of progress on issues ranging from the environment to economics.

How about if every single criminal were to go in front of a judge and say, "Well, even if I did those terrible things, we should look forward, not back." Those two sad sacks in Boston did a tiny fraction of the damage that Bush & Company did.
