"I think my neighbor is a radicalized Jihadist, plotting something terrible"

Let's say your neighbor is actually a young person who has a propensity to make a lot of noise, has a messy yard and a barking dog.

If "you" or someone else "alerts" the FBI,and they have to waste manpower/time/money to go investigate, it adds to the workload they already have, and may allow them to actually miss something important.

This expanded search for "terra-ists" under every rock, can lead to a wild goose chase of epic proportions.

This sort of "enemy-reporting" helped fill Guantanamo as people saw a great way to get rid of people they did not like. All they had to do was turn him in and poof..the guy's gone.

The sad truth is that terroristic activities are secretive by nature, and the people who intend to perpetrate an atrocity, often will be trying their damndest to "blend in", to be as "normal" as possible, so as not to create suspicion before they actually complete their mission.

Republicans are eager to add to the national angst by slyly encouraging more vigilantism in us all.

Terrorist-hunting needs to be laser-focused...not done with a blunderbuss

I thought that's what you were discussing. People reported by U.S. citizens, whisked away from their U.S. homes to Guantanamo?

I don't believe that's who was in Gitmo.

I think they all came from other countries.

I have a neighbor that shoots a BB gun at the raccoons after dark, and during the day he traps squirrels and claims to take them to other parts of the forest. I've told the fucker a dozen times if he has a problem with the animals that live in the forest, he should go back to the city where he belongs. No joy. I find his BBs on my back deck all the time. He actually hides in the dark on his deck and shoots, thinking I can't see or hear him from 50 feet away.

All I have to do is call the FBI and he's gone? I hope they have an empty cell in Guantanamo. I'm calling 1-800-Be A Narc as soon as I'm done here.

Can you?

With the Tsarnaevs, it sure would have been nice if the older one hadn't been so much older and social services could have gotten involved somehow before it got to this. That's my wishful thinking on the subject.

I think a poor understanding of some these countries didn't help either.
Add to the fact that the prisoners in Guantanamo have little rights and they just held a lot of them without probable cause.

US than North Korea who was threatening to nuke us at the time, he has, imo, been radicalized, and if true, who/what radicalized him? Could it be a domestic right-wing extremist who spouts hatred and divisiveness and is thereby a stochastic terrorist if and when the rhetoric prods some deranged person(s) to act out his/their hatred. The right-wing hatred of all things liberal/progressive is, imo, so intense, irrational, and illogical, that it is well past a pathological state.
