American Soldier thought to be dead found 44 years

later. Now this may be old news by now but just wanted to comment. I have had several conversations with fellow Vietnam Vets over the years and many thought what if..What if there were Americans left behind and those soldiers would come to realize that the only way they could have a life, knowing they would probably never see their homeland again, would be to marry, start a family and find something close to a meaningful life in Vietnam?
I believe there are many more John Robertson's there that have raised a family and now have grandchildren.
Its not that John Robertson wanted to be there, it was the USA that abandoned him and took the word of the Vietnamese government so as to put this war behind us when independent intelligence confirmed there were soldiers still alive there.
Well this is proof that those beliefs by Vietnam vets were correct.

There is a report that the subject himself is not American, but is Vietnamese instead, and a fraud ...

I will withhold judgement on this one ...

before commenting. But I still believe there are US servicemen alive in Vietnam and the Vietnamese gov't was/is withholding information about MIAs.

Unless they're over there on vacation.

think you might want to research this topic a bit more in order to add to your knowledge on this subject.

But he still keeps trying to fool people.

I was skeptical when they reported that the guy could no longer speak English and couldn't remember his kids' names. Even after 44 years, if you started speaking English to him it would certainly come back. And NOBODY forgets their kids' names unless they have dementia.
