No one hates Republicans like a reformed wingnut: Another patented John Cole rant

Note to the DU powers that be, I have long standing permission from Mr Cole to post anything and everything from his blog to anywhere I wish.

"Kthug" means Krugman, BTW, C+ Augustus is Dubya and the Fonzi of Freedom is Nick Gillespie.

http://www.balloon-juice.com/2013/05/02/open-thread-1619/

I’ve had a touch of scotch while watching the Pens, so I don’t want to elaborate too much on the rampant douchebaggery of Clive Crook, but can I just say I am tired of rich mother fuckers wanking about why Kthug and the other people who have BEEN FUCKING RIGHT ABOUT EVERYTHING. For fuck’s sake, I have no idea why there has not been an insurrection in Greece and elsewhere and a move to make Atrios (who has been right about this shit for years) monarch and leader of the states that Merkel and the krauts have castrated for the last five years?

Hey- Clive Crook- how has austerity hurt you? Wait? What? Your Roth and 401 and other investments are doing fine because the market is through the roof? While worker’s wages are crashing and the rest of the population is now basically reduced to slave labor? And while your dickhead Republican friends are looking at those people making minimum wage or less, and deciding the real place for budget cuts is to food stamps and welfare while we talk about fucking medicare patients, slash medicaid, and now the scumbags who put us in this mess are gunning for Pete Peterson’s social security slashing. Remember when we had a social security surplus, and C+ Augustus gave it away to the Koch brothers and Richie Rich while expanding a give out to pharm companies, excuse me, I mean expanding Medicare but not allowing for competitive bids.

Nothing is going to change until Clive Crook and his asshole friends are gutted in the streets like something you see in the movies. Fuck them. Fuck them all. In case I was not clear- FUCK THEM ALL.

I fucking hate them all. I eagerly await turning 60 and watching all my investments get gutted in the ineviable market crash and I am forced to live on what I can grow, because, you know, the market just tanked and hoocoodanode and hey- you should have had more money and a more diversified portfolio that was immune to Republican perfidy and malfeasance!

I honestly think we are not too far from food riots and the blood of douchebags running in the street. The only solace is that I know how to grow food and that Matt Welch and the Fonzi of Freedom will be the first fucking scumbags to have their heads put on pikes.

*** Update ***

I’ve been paying into SS and Medicare since I was 16 and had my first job on the books. That means I have 26 years of payments into these programs. But for some reason, I don’t deserve the benefits of them, but my parents, who started paying into it much later in their lives, get the full benefits? The only reason is because rich pricks want more tax cuts. It’s insane.

2. Just a friendly reminder

The top leaders of both the republican and democratic parties, are more a like then people realize.
The bushes and the clintons have more in common then most people realize.
Republicans- Pro life and roe v wade will never be over turn in the blue states- Anti-stemcell research no matter how much it could help us medically. Won't end the wars.
Democrats - want guns removed, the red states love guns more than their own children, guns will never be outlawed because the real rulling party is lobbyists. Won't end the wars.

Both democrats and republicans only care about being relected. Nothing else.

Until this country decides to care more about the future of their children than Kim Kardashians, we are just rubes at the carnival.

Remember the most important quote in the past 75 years:

"We must guard against the acquisition of unwarranted influence, whether sought or unsought, by the military-industrial complex" - Dwight Eisenhower

I don't support either party, I have voted republican some elections and democrat on some elections.
I don't support the war in Iraq and Afghanistan or syria or north korea.
I believe in stem cell research.
I believe in a women's right to choose.
I want to end support for other countries.
I want government spending frozen.
I want the military budget slashed.
I want all drugs legalized.
I want git-mo closed.
I want SSI disability frozen.
I want term limits.
I want social security and medicare to raise the eligibility age.
Bring every troop home.
I support back ground checks for guns, and all licenses.
I will always be disappointed because the country is ruled by corporations and lobbyists.
Every politician wants to be reelected , no matter what.

My Iraq War Retrospective
By John Cole March 21st, 2008

I see that Andrew Sullivan was asked to list what he got wrong about Iraq for the five year anniversary of the invasion, and since I was as big a war booster as anyone, I thought I would list what I got wrong:

Everything.

And I don’t say that to provide people with an easy way to beat up on me, but I do sort of have to face facts. I was wrong about everything.

I was wrong about the Doctrine of Pre-emptive warfare.
I was wrong about Iraq possessing WMD.
I was wrong about Scott Ritter and the inspections.
I was wrong about the UN involvement in weapons inspections.
I was wrong about the containment sanctions.
I was wrong about the broader impact of the war on the Middle East.
I was wrong about this making us more safe.
I was wrong about the number of troops needed to stabilize Iraq.
I was wrong when I stated this administration had a clear plan for the aftermath.
I was wrong about securing the ammunition dumps.
I was wrong about the ease of bringing democracy to the Middle East.
I was wrong about dissolving the Iraqi army.
I was wrong about the looting being unimportant.
I was wrong that Bush/Cheney were competent.
I was wrong that we would be greeted as liberators.
I was wrong to make fun of the anti-war protestors.
I was wrong not to trust the dirty smelly hippies.

I mean, I could go down the list and continue on, but you get the point. I was wrong about EVERY. GOD. DAMNED. THING. It is amazing I could tie my shoes in 2001-2004. If you took all the wrongness I generated, put it together and compacted it and processed it, there would be enough concentrated stupid to fuel three hundred years of Weekly Standard journals. I am not sure how I snapped out of it, but I think Abu Ghraib and the negative impact of the insurgency did sober me up a bit.

War should always be an absolute last resort, not just another option. I will never make the same mistakes again.

That exact sentiment pops up in every single DU thread about economic hardship, typically in the vile form of "some people make bad decisions."

K/R for a mighty rant!

Probably the hardest thing in the world to do - admit you are wrong. But when that epiphany hits it is a true cleansing. Congratulations to John Cole. I am sure he feels clean now. I have had my share of having to say I was wrong, and that is how I felt afterward.

Thanks, Fumesucker, for the post.

it's the fucking endless borrowing against our Social Security that has gotten these assholes into trouble. They don't want to pay us back!
