Sources say it's unlikely his contract will be renewed
BY PRACHI GUPTA
CNN is reviewing Reliable Sources host Howard Kurtzs contract. The news, confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter by a spokesperson for the network, follows Tina Browns announcement two days ago that the media reporter and The Daily Beast had parted ways.
Sources also told the Hollywood Reporter that CNN is not likely to renew Kurtzs contract. The network is also looking into Kurtzs involvement with the web site The Daily Download after media organizations raised the specter of a conflict of interest between Kurtzs day job and his freelance role at the site that was launched in February 2012, writes THR.
Kurtz has wrongly accused NBA star Jason Collins, who made sports history for coming out as gay in Sports Illustrated this week, of not disclosing the fact that Collins was once engaged. (Collins stated that he was engaged early in the piece). The Daily Beast has since pulled the column and fired Kurtz, who has made serious reporting errors before, including a column in which he misquoted Rep. Darrell Issas spokesman as Rep. Darrell Issa.

OP
Isn't Kurtz the one that Keith Olbermann kicked off his show, and swore never to have him back?

I didn't know Dana went to CNN. He's a fixture at MSNBC, especially Rev. Al & Martin Bashir.

I forget what the dustup was about, but apparently Kurtz said or wrote something unforgiveable as far as KO was concerned.

(37,982 posts)3. Perhaps, but I think you might be thinking of Dana Milbank
Milbank had been making regular appearances on Countdown but then wrote something wrong about candidate Obama and went off to work for CNN.

Dana Milbank
Howard Kurtz
Howard Fineman
I used to get the latter two mixed up.

Just not to Countdown.

(70,646 posts)8. Well, well, well: Et tu, CNN?!1 Perhaps it's a sinking-under-his-own-weight thing
Years of his sniping from a pedestal at everybody else down below, yet with a totally hypocritical formula: First the premise/set-up of criticizing how "the media" whored after the latest new thing, then passing without irony into discussing the topic itself (not the media), that is, doing the same thing he was criticizing. And oh how he craved attention from COLBERT and STEWART and whoever he sensed is kewl when he's not, begging for them to feature him.
