Obama finds extra cash under sequester. Guess who gets it and who doesn't.

http://talkingpointsmemo.com/news/hill-aides-white-house-recalculating-some-sequestration-cuts.php?ref=fpa

WASHINGTON (AP) — The White House budget office is recalculating how to apply automatic spending cuts for a handful of agencies, freeing up almost $4 billion for the Pentagon and another $1 billion or so for Homeland Security Department and NASA.

Yep. They were only able to find money for stuff Republicans like--the MIC and Security State.

Sorry, Meals on Wheels and Head Start.

In 2010, President Obama and 19 federal agencies and offices that form the U.S. Interagency Council on Homelessness (USICH) launched the nation’s first comprehensive strategy to prevent and end homelessness. Opening Doors: Federal Strategic Plan to Prevent and End Homelessness puts the country on a path to end veterans and chronic homelessness by 2015 and to ending homelessness among children, family, and youth by 2020.

At issue in the latest recalculation are accounts that were cut more deeply under a full-year funding bill enacted in March than they would have been under the across-the-board cuts. They get funds restored. It’s up to the White House Office of Management and Budget to calculate the across-the-board cuts.

The State Department said Friday that cuts to its budget would be only $400 million, less than half of $850 million that was originally estimated. That means it was able to avoid furloughing workers.

It sounds like these were already Pentagon, HSD, and NASA funds anyway. It's not like they could take the funds and move them somewhere else. Hopefully, other agencies will be able to do this too.

Or just certain programs (which are likely wasteful ergo their being cut in the full year appropriation)?

also. Plus the funding for homeless shelters re: job training and a place to stay with meals sounds like its moving in a good directions. Los Angeles surely needs it.

I'm pretty sure Pres O and his Admin. will work around the party of hell no and somehow restore head start, meals on wheels and cancer treatment/prescription for cancer patients all the while the corporate media and GOP will bash and trash with misinformation.

Its like budgeting with less money but barely keeping up with bills. Soon or later, tax revenues will come about from the 1-2%, loopholes closed, corporations paying their fair corporate taxes, and another one - stopping subsidies will work wonders for the economy and the creation of good paying jobs.
