The company my wife --is right now stuck working for-- claims to give people health insurance HOWEVER when a friend of her applied since she is full time they told her it was AFLAC in the mean time while she is waiting for her info packet and she assumed cards she need to go to the ER and when they asked what type of insurance she had and she told them they said. NO that's not a health policy.
So what type of SCAM is this workplace at now.

(115,682 posts)Supplemental insurance is extra insurance you can get for expenses that a regular insurance policy doesn't cover, like deductibles and copayments, or lost wages or other expenses related to an illness or injury that aren't covered by the health insurance policy. So that's why when she went to the ER they said it wasn't a health policy - because it doesn't cover the basic medical expenses.

(115,682 posts)but I looked it up and it looks like the coverage they have is for supplemental expenses. She definitely needs to see the actual policy or coverage document and find out exactly what it is, and if it is only supplemental coverage, find out why no basic coverage is being offered. I don't know what good supplemental coverage would be if there's no other coverage for it to supplement.
