EDIT to reiterate my specific request of you all:I'm asking those of you who have followed Wishadoo over the years, or even recently, to please either post here or message me, sharing how you've been impacted or see how others have been impacted by Wishadoo -- by compassion via Wishadoo and my Wishadoo posts here -- in some way.
UPDATE: BTW, the COMPASSION REVOLUTION HAS BEEN LAUNCHED!

I've been working nonstop to get things set up to launch the Compassion Revolution I posted about on Friday: http://www.democraticunderground.com/10022791653
I'm missing an important piece of the puzzle though.
One of the things I've asked people to do periodically over the years -- especially those who have been helped by others via Wishadoo in some way -- is to please type out a testimonial of sorts about their experience. Because more often than not people are in such dire straits and daily life is so darn hard (don't I know it), they have good intentions but end up never doing this.
People who have helped others are equally, if not more, impacted by the process of helping one another directly which Wishadoo facilitates via the Wishlist. That is a very common result of this process, I've found.
In order for people to see that THIS DOES WORK...that compassionate action, directly one-on-one....does create ripples of good (and it doesn't always involve money at all, simply acknowledgement of others!), and that my work and my beliefs do have value and impact, I need your help.
In a perfect world I could compile a video of testimonials...written comments, audio clips, images of people holding a sign or saying something regarding how they've been touched by Wishadoo's work.
But that takes time (though if anyone is inclined to take a pic or video clip or something expressing their view of Wishadoo, please do and send it to me!). It will remain on my to-do list for the future though.
It would take me weeks to gather the stories from over the years and summarize them in my own words.
Instead, I'd like to ask those of you who have followed Wishadoo over the years, or even recently, to please either post here or message me, sharing how you've been impacted or see how others have been impacted by Wishadoo in some way. (Wishadoo isn't limited to DU, of course; this is simply the largest community who has put it to use thus far.)
I would greatly, GREATLY appreciate it!

(22,920 posts)You're very kind, LeftofObama!
Maybe Wishadoo gives people here hope?
If that is the impact it is having, then I am a grateful person indeed.
I'm trying to read between the lines of what people are saying, and I guess that's what I'm taking away.

(22,651 posts)I really like that people have a place online to post their emergency needs. What I don't like about online donations is there is a fee for using the service, similar to the fees for paypal.
Much prefer people post the account number for utility bills needed, Doctors name, Vets name, grocery store name (for a store cashcard) and pay those bills directly. Then there is no service fee and I'm more sure the donated cash is used directly for the requested need.

(243 posts)Wishadoo has had a great impact on me. No, I have not sought help from Wishadoo or posted a need. What I have received from Wishadoo is something greater. It has made me realize I am not here alone, that others go through hard times and WE ALL have it in our capabilities to help each other. Those that saw my recent post know I went through a horrific job search. One of, at times feeling worthless and forgotten. I could never have been more wrong. Via Wishadoo, I was connected with people that needed help, help with things I take for granted. Whether it was moving furniture, transporting loved ones of people that could not, and helping remove debris, I was capable of doing it. I did these things through answering my fellow humans' call for help. I helped them, but the unforeseen aspect of it is that in the end, I was the one that received the most.
It restored my hope, my sense of usefulness, and my realization that I do not have it as bad as many others do. We can all help each other in one way or another and helping only comes back to us many times over if we really look at it. Yes, Wishadoo has shown me the unseen good we as people can uncover in ourselves by helping others. The "unseen good" that helped me push forward, feel I have some value, and helped me be persistent in my quest for work.
I help every chance I get. I get nothing monetarily for it, no accolades, I simply get that feeling inside of warmth and satisfaction in knowing I have had a positive effect on another's' life. Yes, the "unseen good" that will grow inside of you once it hits you, when you act with compassion.
I love the "Compassion Revolution" you are pursuing. It is perfect because I always thought I was compassionate but realized there is a big difference in showing and feeling compassion and actually putting it into action. It is so much deeper when you act on that compassion. Hopefully this "Compassion Revolution" will help people see that words are one thing but actions are so much more. To use an old cliché, Actions speak louder than words.
Thank you for Wishadoo, it has changed me. I will be following and taking part in the "Compassion Revolution".

(13,364 posts)I have been directly helped by Wishadoo in a time of need...and have also been able to share the project with colleagues who find it amazing!
I hope it's okay, I will add this to my list of writing "to-do" stuff and send you a message/email...also, I have the desire to LINK you to my blog at Celebrating Life, since the idea of creating a better world through intentions and actions is right on the same page as my work with Circles of Wisdom
so grateful for this amazing work you do...I know it is hard because the "lift-off" is slow going, but we are moving mountains one grain of sand at a time, sister...

(2,191 posts)I once saw where Wishadoo hooked a brother up with some dental work. Little things mean a lot. He can chew his food now and smile...though not at the same time, please. I know how much that means because I need dental work too. Right on Wishadoo!
