Rush Limbaugh: Don’t blame me for WABC’s declining ad sales.........

Rush Limbaugh people are saying it’s not El Rushbo’s fault that ad sales have fallen at his flagship WABC — and he made it clear this weekend if the network’s boss keeps declaring it is, he just may pack up his megadittoes and leave.

WOR is another talk radio station with more RW than liberal talk but it doesn't have the same clout as ABC in NYC. Rush is about to find out that he's on his way to obscurity like Glenn Beck when he quit NYC radio. There is no other place for them to go, ratings be damned.

...WABC is owned by Cumulus...a competitor to Clear Channel and Premiere Networks. Cumulus has been grooming Mikie Hucklenutz to be the next Rushbo...airing his show live at the same time. When Cumulus took control of WABC a little over a year ago, they started making noise that they were going to move Rushbo to another time slot so they could air Hucklenutz live. Clear Channel then went and purchased WOR. The only thing holding Rushbo on WABC has been his long term deal worked out be previous owners...once Cumulus can shake free of it, Rushbo will move to WOR.

It's all whistling past the graveyard as hate talk...especially in the major markets...has been tanking both ratings and revenue-wise for years. The mostly white, 50+ demo doesn't excite advertising agencies much...and all of Rushbo's controversies have led his shows and similar ones being bypassed by advertisers. These days your more likely to hear a sports talk station than a political one.

The ultimate bottom line is that hate radio had little effect on last year's election...being a liability rather than an asset.
