No charges for teens. Intention to blow up turtles.

Bomb targeted for turtle injures Kingwood teen

By Ryan Rockett | May 5, 2013 | Updated: May 5, 2013 5:22pm

A Kingwood teen was injured late Saturday when a homemade bomb detonated, leaving him with severe injuries.

Two males, ages 18 and 19, took small homemade bombs to a bayou on the 3100 block of Valley Rim around 7:40 p.m. Saturday with the intent to blow up turtles, police said.

The unidentified 19-year-old lit a cigar, which police believe produced ash that ignited a cartridge in the teen's pocket.

Police did not elaborate on the composition of the bombs, but said neither teen was arrested and no charges have been filed.

two bright bulbs intentionally make a bomb to blow up wildlife and they walk.

Some days I just don't think there's hope for the human race.

Different state and all, but geez. They could have done as much harm. Plus they have intent to kill an animal, which strikes me as worse than a mere explosion for its own sake.

Zero tolerance.
Laws are different in schools.

My son was charged with a felony weapon for bringing a Chinese star to school. A Chinese star is a lot like a knife. If he was just walking around the street with a knife or Chinese star, I don't think he would have been arrested.
(The charges were dropped)

ETA: I think these teens should have been charged.

Aren't ALL bombs and bomb making illegal? Not just the ones that kill innocent people when they actually blow up?

Several people have chimed in stating that it was not his intention to blow up the turtles, but he was on the "turtle bridge." They are saying that he's really a good kid that did something stupid.

Here's a 2 min. news video if anyone is interested. It also shows the turtles from the bridge. Luckily, they were not hurt:

Drives more traffic to their site which means higher ad revenue. They're taking a page out of the NY Post school of journalism.
