Sick, traitorous bastards--the whole stinking lot of them.

"Someone from the NRA came by and asked us to remove it" a Zombie Industries booth worker told BuzzFeed in hushed tones. "They thought it looked too much like President Obama."
When asked if the Obama likeness was intentional the worker said, "Let's just say I gave my Republican father one for Christmas."
"They are just scared some liberal reporter will come by and start bitching" another booth worker said to men gathered around the booth. "But ya know, he does look very familiar."
"I'm the NRA, and I vote."--Timothy McVeigh.

(30,252 posts)If you used a rifle or shotgun, you were restricted to a more conventional marksmanship target.
And yeah, I find this "bleeding zombie target" nonsense a bit revolting. Especially the one that looks like Obama.

(805 posts)They should have kicked them out of the convention hall.
Could there have been some type of legal contract dispute and that's why they chose not to
kick them out?
Even if the target wasn't intentional by the company it just shows bad taste.

So, no surprise, Domestic Violence Statistics:
Every 9 seconds in the US a woman is assaulted or beaten.
Around the world, at least one in every three women has been beaten, coerced into sex or otherwise abused during her lifetime. Most often, the abuser is a member of her own family.
Domestic violence is the leading cause of injury to womenmore than car accidents, muggings, and rapes combined.
Studies suggest that up to 10 million children witness some form of domestic violence annually.
Nearly 1 in 5 teenage girls who have been in a relationship said a boyfriend threatened violence or self-harm if presented with a breakup.
Everyday in the US, more than three women are murdered by their husbands or boyfriends.
Ninety-two percent of women surveyed listed reducing domestic violence and sexual assault as their top concern.
Domestic violence victims lose nearly 8 million days of paid work per year in the US alonethe equivalent of 32,000 full-time jobs.
Based on reports from 10 countries, between 55 percent and 95 percent of women who had been physically abused by their partners had never contacted non-governmental organizations, shelters, or the police for help.
The costs of intimate partner violence in the US alone exceed $5.8 billion per year: $4.1 billion are for direct medical and health care services, while productivity losses account for nearly $1.8 billion.
Men who as children witnessed their parents domestic violence were twice as likely to abuse their own wives than sons of nonviolent parents.

(13 posts)When does stuff like this stop being funny and someone takes action against people like this. They all think it's some kind of joke and the FBI ought to be going after these people. You know damned well if some liberal did this when the Bush-Cheney faction was in charge every right-wing media outlet would have been screaming to high heaven. I get sick and tired of these so-called Americans using Pres. Obama for their tired jokes. It's billboards, placards, viral e-mails, tasteless jokes sent around for people to get their chuckles and other things that show the lack of respect for the elected office he serves. It should come as no surprise, however. I think the collective IQs of most of these people is about 55.

(35,653 posts)One of the worst parts of a convention like this is they feel they have "comrades in arms." They feed off each other.
We've all heard the term "emotional contagion," which means emotions spread. When we watch laughing baby clips on youtube, that's why we also start laughing. We hear others laughing, in most cases, we might smile or even start laughing.
It would be interesting to study the behavior of these social misfits after they leave the convention.
Furthermore, I think quite a number of them are simply maladjusted, unhappy people who have something wrong with them cognitively or emotionally. As you say, collective IQ of 55, but emotionally, I'll bet you'd find a high number of cases of arrested development.
They find an "emotional family" in the NRA much like kids do when they join gangs.

(9,350 posts)That is just ridiculous and sad. There is no reason for someone to create such a target. Everyone has a right to disagree with President Obama, but there is not reason to make a target that bleeds when it is shot.
Can anyone at DU imagine how the creators of this target would have reacted if someone had made a similar target of George W. Bush or some other Republican politician? They most likely would have wanted the person thrown in jail for the rest of their lives.

(3,557 posts)If you want to shoot something that bleeds, join the Army and head over to your combat zone of choice. There are plenty of opportunities over there for some of that.
However, I'm just a pinko-commie liberal. I'm sure my low IQ is one of the reasons I can't seem to figure out why shooting people and bleeding targets should be fun.
