Fox News chief ordered Geraldo Rivera’s mic cut for defending Obama on Benghazi: report

http://www.rawstory.com/rs/2013/05/06/fox-news-chief-ordered-geraldo-riveras-mic-cut-for-defending-obama-on-benghazi-report/

A new report says that Fox News President Roger Ailes ordered the Fox News control room to cut host Geraldo Rivera’s mic just two days before November’s election because he was defending President Barack Obama against the network’s “misinformation” about terrorist attacks in Benghazi.

The New York Times reported on Monday that Bloomberg View columnist Jonathan Alter’s new book, “The Center Holds: Obama and His Enemies,” is expected to tell a story about how Fox News tried to use the Benghazi attacks to prevent Obama’s re-election.

“Roger Ailes covered the Benghazi story as if it were Watergate just before Nixon’s resignation, with almost wall-to-wall coverage,” Alter wrote, noting that Rivera was the only host “allowed to offer a dissenting view.”

But Rivera apparently went too far during his Nov. 2 appearance on Fox & Friends when he accused guest host Eric Bolling of telling a “lie” by suggesting that the president “went gambling in Las Vegas when he could have been saving our people in Benghazi.”

I hear him on the radio sometimes and he's usually defending Obama against the RW attack du jour.

Last time I saw/heard Geraldo, he was essentially saying Trayvon Martin deserved to get shot because he was wearing a hooded sweatshirt...

7. I remember him saying that and he later apologized.

At the time I got what he meant, but it still came out all wrong. Yes, many of the people who are committing crimes wear hoodies, but so do a host of other people. I think that most of us have at least one hoodie. I know I do.

10. Doesn't excuse the fact he knowingly made a horribly bigoted, stereotype-feeding comment

and that he doubled down on the ignorance; only yielding when the shitstorm got too hard and the internets started digging past photos of HIM wearing a hooded sweatshirt...

And what do you mean you "got what he meant?" What the hell exactly do you think he meant?

...but using easily available facts and reports, he does sometimes makes points that don't disparage the democrats and Obama.

What does this sound like: Eric Bolling suggested that the president “went gambling in Las Vegas when he could have been saving our people in Benghazi.”

Remember that while Katrina was unfolding, Condoleeza Rice went on a shoe shopping spree in NYC and Bush** was partying in AZ with John McCain? Bush** didn't cancel his vacation until two days later, and only after public uproar reached fever pitch.

This isn't the first time I've noticed the cons picking up legitimate complaints from the Bush** years and twisting them to use against Obama. It's petty vengefulness, nothing deeper than that.

eta: I know this article is talking about something else - the mic cut - but the above stood out like a sore thumb.

They want to help their Tea party nuts in Congress to conduct a witch hunt to embarrass Obama and smear Hillary (they fear her becoming the nominee in 2016 and wiping the floor with anyone they throw at her).

Not only do they manage the news, they personally monitor their own talking heads who deliver it.

like an enemy of the state. Once again a supposed news outlet plays politics to help get a certain party elected into office.
