Mississippi death row inmate granted stay of execution

http://www.wapt.com/Mississippi-death-row-inmate-granted-stay-of-execution/-/9157628/20028660/-/a4cbvt/-/index.html

The Mississippi Supreme Court granted a stay of execution Tuesday for Willie Jerome Manning hours before he was scheduled to be put to death.

Manning's execution was set for 6 p.m. for the 1992 slayings of two college students.

Manning's lawyer said in a court filing on Tuesday to the Mississippi Supreme Court that the FBI has identified another error in the case. The filing included a copy of an FBI letter the defense said it received late Monday.

The letter says there was incorrect testimony related to tests on bullets found in a tree by Manning's house that were compared to bullets found in the victims.

if there is new evidence then a stay of execution is highly proper....putting an innocent man to death is horrendous...the new evidence may or may not clear this man but at least take it into acount and investigate it throughly before coming to any "eye-for-an-eye" conclusions....

There is a response in another thread to the effect of 'I am against the DP in principle, but...'

I would think one is either for it, or against it.
