Delaware Senate Approves Same-Sex Marriage Bill

DOVER, Del. (AP) - Delaware's state Senate approved a bill that would make it the 11th state in the nation to allow same-sex marriage.
The final vote in the senate was 12-9.
The bill narrowly won passage in the House last month and was scheduled for a vote Tuesday in the Senate. Its fate in the divided 21-member chamber could be decided by a single lawmaker's vote.
Democratic Gov. Jack Markell has promised to sign the measure if it passes the legislature.
The debate over gay marriage has drawn passionate arguments from both opponents and supporters, who packed the balcony in the Senate chamber on Tuesday hours before the legislative session was set to start.
