You can bust through a wall to escape a house...

not so much in an older home, like the Cleveland girls were held in, but more recently built it's not that hard.

Interior wall - piece of cake. Exterior more difficult but doable.

You can't bust through concrete with packed dirt around it.

It's possible if you have the tools and enough time but I doubt they did in that basement.

We changed a window into a door to add a deck. Not easy.

They built them to last then.

there was no way they would react like that. I hate this kind of shit, it's easy to be brave from your comfortable living room,when you're being tortured by madmen,not so much.

And, obviously, stucco on lath or brick facing would be even harder.

In any event, as indicated above (nolabear) the psychological walls are probably what kept these victims from even trying to get through a wall.
