Katherine Russell, Widow Of Bombing Suspect Tamerlan Tsarnaev, Hires Criminal Lawyer

PROVIDENCE, R.I. — The widow of Boston Marathon bombing suspect Tamerlan Tsarnaev has hired a prominent criminal lawyer with experience defending terrorism cases as she continues to face questions from federal authorities.

Katherine Russell added New York lawyer Joshua Dratel to her legal team, her attorney Amato DeLuca said Wednesday. Dratel has represented a number of terrorism suspects in federal courts and military commissions, including Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, detainee David Hicks, who attended an al-Qaida-linked training camp in Afghanistan.

"Mr. Dratel's unique, specialized experience will help insure that Katie can assist in the ongoing investigation in the most constructive way possible," DeLuca said in a written statement.

She is the only one who will come out of this in a better circumstance.

unidentified woman's DNA being found on a bomb fragment.

She's gonna NEED that defense attorney, I suspect. Though if that's her DNA, it won't save her ass.

According to more than one news source.

But she still has a lot of explaining to do. For one thing, bomb-making evidence has been found in their apartment.

They were getting welfare up until late last year....food stamps, section 8 housing, etc. And when Tamerlan was back in Russia, she was skyping him and telling him to stick to his prayer schedule. She wasn't always at work...and some of that may have been "sleeping overnights" with patients who couldn't be left alone in their homes.

I honestly don't think she was an active part of any plot. She may have been a "go along, get along" type who saw stuff and just didn't ask questions, though.

Tamerlan AFTER his picture started popping up on the telly.

They found a few bombs in her house, too--did she really think that Tamerlan was a collector of pressure cookers and capped pipes with fuses?

The parents hired her a couple of lawers and put their house on the market the Friday after the marathon bombing. I think they knew back then she was in danger of arrest. Now they're stepping up the legal expertise?

The FBI has some tangible evidence that is problematic for her. She needs a good "Let's Make a Deal" attorney, and they've gotten her one.
