What is the most political thing that you have ever done?

I went to a Jimmy Carter event when I was a kid.
I worked on the Clinton / Gore campaign in Colorado in 1992.
In 2000 and 2009 I ran for local office.
I am on my local Democratic committee and attend local meetings.
In 2003 I was a Grassroots Organizer - You say Howard, I say Dean!

I'm curious, what is the most political thing that you have ever done?

2. I was a Registrar of Voters

And I worked at a political ad agency (and won 22 national awards for it!)

I didn't get my head beat in but I was there and remember it as if it was yesterday, especially the tear gas.

4. I've worked on a lot of campaigns... and now for BT.

I've gone door to door, phone banking, election monitoring,
alternate election judge, election clerk, voter registration.
My favorite campaign rally was the one in 1968 at the
Astrodome for Hubert Humphrey... though I also enjoyed
the Howard Dean rally in Houston. Also memorable was
the rally for Barbara Jordan in 1972 right before my first
time to vote.

I've also participated in countless rallies and protests. My
favorites were the ones against Tom Delay's redistricting
here in Austin, and the one supporting Wisconsin's unions
here in Austin not too long ago.

I just a call last night to work with Battleground Texas, an
organization dedicated to turning Texas blue again. That
will involve working voter registration on Saturdays during
the summer. Hurray!

7. I attended demonstrations

against the war in Viet Nam with my mother.

I also went with her to hear Angela Davis speak after she was released.

I attended many meetings and demonstrations protesting the lead-up to the bogus fucking "war on terror."

I refused to allow 9/11 to manipulate me emotionally or politically into legitimizing that war or the Bush administration.

I campaigned for and donated to Dennis Kucinich in '04. (primaries)

I call and write politicians and other leaders about issues on a regular basis.

Edited to add: I heard RR speak in person when he came to my town in 1983. Not because I was a fan; I had despised him since he was my governor. But I was married to someone working on the space shuttles, and he was coming in for a nice PR event, and I could get in the relatively small venue. He's the only president I've ever seen in person. It was a typical Reagan speech.

Perhaps the MOST political thing I've ever done was to become a teacher, thus offering myself up to be the nation's political, economic, and social scapegoat; a martyr to the dying cause of public education, which I've been a fierce defender of for 3 decades. I didn't know that's what I was doing at the time.

9. I ran for delegate to the DNC in 2004.

I have been politically active since I was in junior high. I actually worked for a neighbor who was running for mayor of our city. I organized a group of classmates to hand out campaign literature in the park.

I worked my butt off for Mondale in 1984. Since then I have attended rallies, worked for candidates, etc. Most recently was for a slate of school board candidates two years ago.

I love election day! it's better than a holiday for me! When I retire I would like to work at the polls.

12. I attended a ceremony in the WH Rose Garden with Richard Nixon as a cub scout and

got an award from President Carter in the Rose Garden.
Worked on dozens of local Democratic campaigns and was a delegate for both Gary Hart and Paul Tsongas.
Drove local politicians around parades in huge antique convertibles in Alexandria, Staunton, and DC.
