Is there anyone that can put their finger on the pulse of America?
Perhaps we need a doctor of psychiatry?
I was watching "UP" with Steve Kornacki this morning and he had Thomas Frank, the author of "What's The Matter With Kansas" on his program. It appears that Kansas has gone completely off the wire with their ultra-conservative Governor and legislature?
They are clinging to their guns out of fear and paranoia. It is a symptom of the problem and not the problem, in my opinion. There is a lot of racism involved also.
They truly believe they are losing their country. The only way they know how to react is to grab their guns.
They see a black man in the White House and they are scared of the direction our nation is going. They see states passing marriage equality laws and they feel it infringes upon their religious liberty in some manner or other?
These paranoid Americans, mostly Republicans, are being led by the Tea Party. They have taken over the Republican Party and have vowed to block Barack Obama and the present government from doing anything. They want the government frozen in place until they can change it at the polls.
They need a doctor.

They can keep their neo feudalism, thanks.
The funny thing is that they think they're putting things back where they ought to be, back in the 50s sitcom.
They have no idea they're longing for the Dark Ages when nobody knew any more than they did because everybody was kept ignorant.
And yes, they need rear ends full of antipsychotics, hug me jackets, and nice talks with men in white coats until the hallucinations fade.

(28,394 posts)Constantly living in fear and dread? Maybe they need some anti-anxiety meds.
I look at it differently and see the changes as a positive force. I do worry about the proliferation of weapons and hope that the movement for more regulation will continue to grow. But I really believe that the pendulum has finally swung to the left after being stuck on the right since 1980. I think the 2012 election was a turning point with the passage of more equal rights and the legalization of marijuana in a few states. Once people have more freedom, no one will take it from them.
Now we need to get rid of those repuke governors who are trying to roll back progress on voting and labor rights. We can do it.
