Shooting at Mother's Day parade in New Orleans leaves at least 19 injured; three suspects on loose:

New Orleans cops are hunting for three suspects in a shooting spree Sunday that left at least 19 injured at a Mother's Day parade.
Many of the victims were grazed, and most injuries are non-life threatening, The Associated Press reported. The number of hurt has continued to rise throughout the afternoon Sunday after original reports indicated a dozen were injured in the 2 p.m. shooting.
The FBI said the shooting was "street violence" and not linked to terrorism.Nine of the victims were taken to the city’s University Hospital, with three or four requiring surgery, New Orleans police said. At least three of those shot were in critical condition, CBS affiliate WWL-TV reported. At least two remained in surgery Sunday night.
The victims included 10 men and seven women. The youngest victims, a 10-year-old girl and boy, suffered graze wounds, according to NOLA.com, and are in good condition. Another person was injured in a fall during the commotion and was taken to the hospital.
The website said there were about 200 people gathered at the intersection of Frenchmen and Villere streets in the 7th Ward — a neighborhood ravaged by Hurricane Katrina — when the shots rang out around 2 p.m. About 400 were participating in the three block procession in the city's 7th Ward, where about 60% of the neighborhood's pre-Katrina population has returned to live.At least three people are suspected in the shooting, said NOPD Superintendent Ronald Serpas.
One of the suspects is described as a male between 18 and 22 with short hair, a white shirt and bluejeans, NOLA.com reported.

An astoundingly bad idea.

Were these hand guns or rifles? Not that either is more tolerable than the other.

this is "terrorism" or just good ol' American "street violence."

Except that maybe good ol' American street shooters may not be hunted down with as much energy as your typical un-American terrorist. Or even your known serial killer.

If you ask "why not", that would be a good question.
