Conservative groups have raised an ungodly amount of cash for their candidates since the Citizens United decision. All the IRS did was profile these huge cash bundlers. These guys support policies which advocate tax evasion. Romney himself stashed millions in offshore accounts.
All the IRS did was profile these groups who are clearly more likely to engage in tax evasion and other nefarious financial activities.
This is the same thing the GOP demands from the FBI when looking at terror suspects. They want people with brown skin and Muslim names to be profiled.
This is no different. This is what profiling is all about.
The GOPers are the ones that want the government to engage in profiling.
Well here it is.

(31,011 posts)I hate those groups, but they are entitled to not be targeted because of their politics. The IRS apologized and Obama is outraged.
Everyone knows the IRS abused their authority here.

(60,332 posts)Profiling is only good when the Right uses it against others.
When they are the target, it is different!

Sorry, the IRS was wrong and they admitted it.
Would you be saying the same thing if it was discovered that they were doing the same thing to liberal/progressive orgs.?

Also, fire any level higher up who may have found this out but did nothing immediately - if so.
On June 29, 2011, Lois G. Lerner, who heads the IRS division that oversees tax-exempt organizations, learned at a meeting that groups were being targeted, according to the [inspector generals] report....Lerner instructed agents to change the criteria for flagging groups immediately, the report says.

(8,217 posts)Such a thing does happen though but the difference is that it was conservative groups that got profiled this time.
It doesn't matter that there are many instances where groups skirt the rules. All that matters is that they are now able to perpetuate a "we are the religious opressed" idea that they are going on and on about.
Amazing how the entitled would be the loudest voices on being oppressed, while they have it so good.
