Marijuana mix-up: Brooklyn building superintendent, cops at first mistake tomato plants for pot

A MUST READ

Cops responding to a report of a marijuana farm on the roof of a Brooklyn building didn’t find the wacky tobacky they were looking for — just tomato plants, police and witnesses said Wednesday.

Local Barney Fifes thought they were raiding a grow operation, and it was just an elderly woman growing tomatoes in her trailer.

After all, tomatoes don't come from plants right? They come from grocery stores! I have heirloom tomatoes growing right next to me at the computer, hence my laughter.

that disturb residents who actually DO live there; someone got pissed and called the DEA - it's a timeworn tactic to get law enforcement to actually enforce laws about noise and trespassing.

Granted, it's illegal to file a false police report. But so is breaking the peace, and disturbing your neighbors late at night.

On edit, oh, I see - the super called the police, not the DEA; at any rate, he said he's locking the door to the roof - it's a safety hazard and a nuisance and source of all kinds of problems.

Just wanted to take a moment to homage the narrative you spun, involving noise and the DEA. Not a word of it true, but that didn't stop you. The 'super' also did not say 'safety hazard, nuisance, nor 'source of all kinds of problems' just said he's locking it. Not the brightest thing fire safety wise, locking the roof, but this is about pride and right and wrong and that coyote like plant!!!

How many of 'NY's finest' showed up to bust a condiment? Imagine how many cars they'd need if there had been lettuce as well!
Sorry but this is 'tried to milk the bull stupid'. And for NYPD who spend so much time in NYC trying to stamp out marijuana to go after a salad platter because they don't know what pot plants look like is embarrassing to those who 'train' them and send them forth to stop and frisk random minority youth. Looking for it, searching you for it, have no idea what it looks like. Good stuff.

maybe because it's Monday, but I can do nothing more than giggle at our exchange here - seems kind of silly - or maybe I put on my Silly Cap this morning.

Anyway, have a nice night!

My ex-boyfriend used to smoke back there and was addled enough that stuff would get away from him so it didn't surprise me that some of it might come up.

Took me a few minutes to figure out they were raspberry bush runners.
