GOP key words: First term = Carter. Second term = Nixon.

That's it, that's the GOP playbook.

In the first term they chanted the "one and done" manta from day one which culminated with the whole Benghazi setpiece and trying to tie the president to Jimmy Carter.

Now they want to Nixonize the president, and even some so-called liberal pundits like Chris Matthews lapped up the set talking point.

They used Rove's "Rule of Three" to get things going: three scandals or incidents which set up the desired perception in the public mind.

This is their play for the next three years.

We need a negative spotlight to shine on the GOPers for awhile.

So long as Democrats control the Senate, impeachment proceedings from the House aren't going anywhere, and the Republicans know this. If we lose the Senate in 2014, it's a whole different ballgame, but this kind of speculation is useless under the current circumstances.
