Traffic officer halts pursuit to save ducks in road (X-post from Good News)

X-POST FROM GOOD NEWS FORUM: http://www.democraticunderground.com/1267639

(I don't ignore the plethora of upsetting, infuriating, despair-inducing news that is all around; I just seek out any positive news I can find to balance it out, or else I'd go insane. Just FYI for those who feel I hide my head in the sand.)

and before starting my work-work I literally scour these intertubes for good news, and do so periodically throughout the day.

I honestly think I would have lost my mind by now if I didn't seek out the good. It's out there.

Later!

driving west on the A4 out of London 10 o'clock at night. A Canadian goose , well laden with eggs to extent it may not have been able to fly , had already managed to leg it across the eastbound part of the dual carriageway and was stationary about 6 feet from the kerb on my side having paused for thought I guess. I stopped to let it finish its walk. Poor sod - was still another half mile down the Thames if carried on walking. I reckon someone would've 'phoned the RSPCA to get it some help anyway.

When we pulled up at some traffic lights down the road he started to have a go me for stopping for a goose, then noticed my #0 haircut and the stone cold stare on my face at which point he gave up and drove off - hooligan.

That cop was surely missing the important issue of the moment!

The cop was going way faster than I would be comfortable with on wet streets, he should have caught that car in a straight pursuit before the ducks came along.

That said, kudos for doing the right thing! I'll bet that guy's a Dad.
