Report: Susan Rice Likely To Be Tapped For Promotion

Report: Susan Rice Likely To Be Tapped For Promotion

Susan Rice, the U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, is likely to be tapped as the next National Security Advisor, according to a report in Foreign Policy.

The report quotes a pair of sources who said that Rice will inevitably succeed current National Security Advisor Tom Donilon whenever he leaves the post.

"It's definitely happening," one source said.

Rice was thought to be the favorite to succeed Hillary Clinton at the State Department, but her would-be nomination never got off the ground ostensibly due to Republican criticism over her appearances on Sunday talk shows following the attack in Benghazi, Libya.

Does this one need confirmation?

Why anyhow does any cabinet or VP choice need confirmation?
It should be a given, what the president wants any president.

Reporting a report who is based on two anonymous sources. This is what passes for news these days. Really? No wonder I cannot get upset with the AP issue. When reporters will start reporting again rather than pushing rumors, I will start becoming interested again.

Note: we already knew Susan Rice had powerful allies in the White House. This confirms it. Aside from that, this is just unconfirmed rumors on a non essential event.

...headlines suck sometimes, but the source of the report is FP. Yeah, it's a rumor, and the piece seems to be fanning the Benghazi flames, but I love to see it happen.

No, the position does not require confirmation. And it keeps Rice close at hand and under control. It may also limit her ability to testify, and decrease her desire to veer from her talking points.

read the report:

Rice will inevitably succeed current National Security Advisor Tom Donilon whenever he leaves the post.

Seems to me it is more like pushing Rice in the forefront just to show she is not put on the side line, whoever is responsible for these leaks.
