Viral Video Star Kai The Hitchhiker Now Suspect In NJ Murder

Earlier this year, a bushy-haired hitchhiker named Kai become an online sensation after video emerged of him explaining he stopped a man from attacking a couple by hitting him with a hatchet. Now Kai McGillvary is wanted for the murder of a New Jersey man.

Union County authorities say that McGillvary is suspected of killing 73-year-old attorney Joseph Galfy Jr., who was found dead in his Clark, NJ home on May 13. The Star-Ledger reports that McGillvary, 24, "cut his hair in an attempt to alter his appearance [and] was last seen at a light rail station in the Haddonfield area." He is also considered armed and dangerous.

It's unclear how Union County authorities came to suspect McGillvary, an itinerant drifter. Here's the video that launched McGillvary to Internet stardom:

McGillvary is already charged with murder and has bail set at $3 million even though he hasn't been located. There's a $5,000 reward for information that leads to his arrest.

The line between "free spirit" and "troubled" is often blurred, but he had clearly crossed it. Dude needed help then, and judging from his Facebook page, he's needed help for a long time.

An autopsy performed the following day determined that Galfy died as a result of "blunt force trauma", according to Union County Prosecutor Theodore J. Romankow.

Investigators said Kai met the attorney near Times Square, and a surveillance camera captured images of them. The men later went back to the victim's house, officials said.

A post was made to his Facebook page on Tuesday in which Kai claims he was raped by the man.....

14. They have updated this article (link) since I posted it earlier. They have to look but it makes me

feel really weird, doing "what if" stuff and trying not to. It seems he did assault this guy, not sure if murdered or assaulted and he died, and if there was sexual abuse or what. Very odd.
