Susan Rice got hosed The emails show that Obamas United Nations Ambassador played no role in crafting the talking points that she followed when she appeared on five television talk shows on Sunday September 16. Republicans fixated on that notorious day of TV interviews as evidence that Rice was part of an administration effort to cover up the facts about Benghazi. And when it became clear late last year that President Obama was preparing to tap Rice as his next Secretary of State, Republicans cited Rices performance that day as grounds for a promised battle against her nomination. Rice ultimately withdrew her name from consideration for the post, although she may wind up with an even more powerful one as a result.

(28,927 posts)Guess they were worried it was too much of a distraction and preventing stuff from getting done. But in a way it showed them weakness and gave some credence to what Republican's were saying. It's almost always better to stand firm when truth is on your side and they had proof all along it was on their side.

They supported the policy, but felt compelled to make hay of the tragedy, so they kinda boxed themselves in. But, that doesn't mean there wasn't a real, fatal covert operation that blew back in Benghazi, and Rice fell on the sword to protect it.

(27,461 posts)some of the republicans even said so themselves. It's pretty common for people to take the fall for something they aren't mainly responsible for, and it's been clear that that was the case with Rice.

(28,927 posts)Here is what it says: Insiders with ties to the Obama administration tell The Cable that U.S. ambassador to the United Nations Susan Rice has become the heir apparent to National Security Advisor Tom Donilon -- a post at the epicenter of foreign-policy decision making and arguably more influential than secretary of state, a job for which she withdrew her candidacy last fall amid severe political pressure.
"It's definitely happening," a source who recently spoke with Rice told The Cable. "She is sure she is coming and so too her husband and closest friends."
"Susan is a very likely candidate to replace him whenever he would choose to leave," agreed Dennis Ross, a former special assistant to President Obama and counselor at the Washington Institute. "She is close to the president, has the credentials, and has a breadth of experience."

I'd like to see a massive gathering up and impeaching. Just a wet dream.
