The state released preliminary draft rules Thursday on the emerging recreational marijuana market, covering an array of topics ranging from how pot should be grown and tested for quality assurance to what types of security should be required at state-licensed pot businesses.

“These initial rules balance our goal of developing a tightly regulated system with reasonable access for small and large business models to participate within the system,” said state Liquor Control Board Chair Sharon Foster.

“They are based upon hundreds of hours of internal research and deliberation, consultation with multiple industry experts and input from the over 3,000 individuals who attended our forums statewide.”

I thought I'd post the original document because wonks are going to want that regardless.

I already learned that hash oil is banned. But you gotta start somewhere.

Marijuana extracts, such as hash, hash oil, shatter, and wax can be infused in products sold in a marijuana retail store, but RCW 69.50.354 does not allow the sale of extracts that are not infused in products. A marijuana extract does not meet the definition of a marijuana-infused product per RCW 69.50.101.

People are complaining, but as you say..you have to start somewhere. If this ever comes off, it's still a hell of a lot better than the status quo..

The lack of grow your own is a major flaw in I-502, in my opinion. Colorado's law lets you grow six plants.

I can't wait for the smoke bars. Although they will probably have to be a building all by itself, and so many feet away from other businesses. I am currently growing my own to sell to med shops, and of course for myself. Hoping to be a delivery service one day perhaps. For those that can grow it, now's the time to make your money before it's industrialized. While the market is still somewhat small.

Well that is one huge load of crap right there. background checks for applicants and financial regulations? Show me any business including pharmacies and liquor stores and bars that have that requirement.

I frankly don't think that's a bad idea because I wouldn't want the end result to set back progress.

In my county we have some extemely sketchy characters in the medical pot biz.
