More than 25% of gay people surveyed in EU say have been subjected to attacks or violent threats

More than 25% of gay people surveyed in EU poll say have been subjected to attacks or violent threats in past 5 years
....

The online survey asked lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender respondents whether they had experienced discrimination, violence, verbal abuse or hate speech on the grounds of their sexual orientation or gender identity.

Some 26% of respondents said they had been attacked or threatened with violence in the past five years. For transgender respondents, that figure rose to 35%.

Most of the hate attacks reported took place in public and were perpetrated by more than one person, with the attackers predominantly being male, according to the poll.

More than half of the respondents who said they had been attacked did not report the incident to the authorities, believing no action would be taken.

It may or may not be directed *specifically* and personally at them. But they "experience" it all the time.

I experienced two separate incidences today taking a ride on a city bus in the Bronx just after the schools let out.

Something, something "faggot".

And something like "that's gay! That's gay!"

No. I wasn't directed at me specifically. But it was directed at me non-specifically.

I must live in a different world than everybody else.

I gotta get my car fixed soon so I can go back to pretending the world is a better, safer and more just place than it actually is.
