This morning there was a cicada sitting on my deck railing.

The feral cats haven't noticed them yet.

3. Keep an eye on it

If it's just sitting there, chances are that it's preparing to molt. You could be rewarded with a perfect replica of the insect, light brown with a slit along the back where it emerged from its old skin. This phenomenon has fascinated me since I was a kid.

5. That guy had already molted and was waiting for his wings to dry off.

Have to agree, very fascinating.

6. My kids are outside daily

looking for them. They are more excited about the big red eyed bugs than anything else.
