IRS 'Scandal' Appears Nearly as Phony as Shirley Sherrod, Van Jones, ACORN 'Scandals'

IRS 'Scandal' Appears Nearly as Phony as Shirley Sherrod, Van Jones, ACORN 'Scandals'
But the Obama Administration falls for it again...

"Listening to the nightly news, this appears to be just the latest example of a culture of cover-ups --- and political intimidation --- in this administration," declared the opportunistic Republican Chairman of the House Ways & Means Committee during a hearing today on the "scandal" related to the IRS use of Rightwing words such as "Tea Party" to help identify groups applying for tax-exempt status which might be operating in violation of the tax code.

The key phrase there is: "Listening to the nightly news..."

Rep. David Camp (R-MI) was correct in at least that part of his statement. If you listened to the way this supposed "scandal" is being reported by the bulk of the corporate media, you'd think the poorly chosen criteria used by low-level IRS officials in trying to identify taxpayer-subsidized organizations that might be carrying out political operations in violation of the law, was part of a "culture of cover-up" and "political intimidation" on par with Richard Nixon ordering his Dept. of Justice to target political enemies.

Then again, if you listened only to the corporate media, you --- like the Obama Administration --- also probably thought that the phony, trumped-up "scandals" that led to the inappropriate firing of USDA official Shirley Sherrod, the cowardly firing of White House green jobs adviser Van Jones and the outrageous federal defunding of ACORN were also the unhappy result of an endemic culture of corruption by the Obama Administration, the Democratic Party and its insidious political apparatchiks.

Those fake scandals, however, all three of them, were shams. And the closer one looks at the IRS "scandal", particularly after today's U.S. House hearings (and our report yesterday on what the IG report actually said), this one seems to be almost as trumped up…not that that has kept Obama (and the media) from falling for it. Again…

a way to show Republicans how "bipartisan" he is when he slams Democrats. His treatment of Shirley Sherrod has been on my mind lately. It remains one of the most shameful things I have ever seen.

and that O'Keefe ratfucker. And it was really unfortunate Sherrod ended up with what she did (she is doing fine last I heard and sounds like a great person).

I just thought saying this was one of the Most Shameful Things you've Ever is just wee bit over the toppy and it made me laugh.

to axe Ms. Sherrod. Their and our elected knuckleheads reaction particularly with ACORN was fucking shameful and now they have the unmitigated gall to act all wise now and get downright snippy about the AP deal, probably because they know their is some fire there and are hiding behind BushCo bullshit to defend it.

Particularly the new John Woo wing who are just as amoral as the TeaPubliKlans and the corporate wing who are damn near as protective of big money and the establishment as the old country club set that dominated across the aisle forever.

Now they think they can beat folks that warned them over the fucking head with their own wrongness????

It was a lonely motherfucker defending ACORN and it sure wasn't many of the woodchuck set that had our backs, if a single damn one.

The pattern is clear, the wagons circle for Turd Way types and the left gets the axe.
They circle the wagons for Holder, fucking Betrayous, Duncan, and even torture mongering Brennan but if a TeaPubliKlan says "boo" they are ready to cut and run, sometimes before a TeaPubliKlan says "boo" like with Weiner.

This fellow Steve Miller, who was resigned earlier this week. The guy who got the job because the GOP won't confirm any of the President's nominees. Did he happen to also be a Bush appointee? And what about the new acting commissioner? Are we running out of Bush appointees to fill the slot yet?

As best I can tell, Steve Miller was some sort of a musician before all this.
