A teenager died Thursday after a man grabbed an iPad out of his hands and fled in an SUV that ran over the boy as he struggled to hold on to the tablet.
The Clark County Coroners Office identified the victim as Marcos Vincente Arenas, 15, of Las Vegas. He was a freshman at Bonanza High School, officials with the Clark County School District confirmed.
Metro Police also released photos of what were described as a "person of interest and a vehicle of interest" in the case.
There has got to be people who saw stuff, and we want those people to come forward, Metro spokesman Bill Cassell said.

(24,262 posts)The concern here is that some schools have distributed iPads to students for class and homework. This shit will only get worse.

(924 posts)Several years ago, I got a sucker punch in the face that dazed me, and the robber grabbed my laptop and ran. When I came to, I started my car to pursue but he disappeared in an alley in a neighborhood that I decided not worth my life (and the care of my 2 young children) to pursue him on foot. The few bystanders weren't exactly the characters who would be on my side to point to me where the robber had gone, and they looked more likely to be on the robber's side.
I called the cops and of course, nothing they could do in a neighborhood like that.
I was very angry of course. The punch left my face swollen for more than a day. But days later, when I read news of people getting killed for less than that, I just had to accept it. I taught my children to always protect their life first and material loss is no big deal.
Feel so sad for the kid and his family. I can't imagine being his parents right now.
