Former Rep. Kucinich: Obama ‘hasn’t done anything’ on jobs

Former Rep. Dennis Kucinich (D-Ohio) blasted President Obama on Sunday for not doing enough to lower the unemployment rate in the country.

“President Obama hasn't done anything about the unemployment problem,” said Kucinich on “Fox News Sunday.”

“We have massive amounts of people who are out of work and… [Obama] has to be held accountable for not creating the jobs. We have about 8 million people out of work, about another 8 million people working part time and shouldn't be. We need an economic agenda. We don't have it.”

A staunch liberal, Kucinich has been actively outspoken against some of the administration’s policies and actions since leaving office at the end of the last Congress.

It is nice to see that Mr. Kucinich is still able to 'speak truth to power' even while drawing a paycheck from Fox News.

Kucinich pushed the party RIGHT, not left.

They could always count on him to vote AGAINST Democratic bills. On principle. That must have been awesome for him. But the thing is, if Kucinich could be counted on to vote no, the Democratic leadership had to get the vote elsewhere. Like towards the votes on the bubble from Blue Dogs. They end up either changing the bills to appeal to them or cutting a deal on another legislative priority (or simply putting in an earmark) to get that other vote.

If Kucinich had voted with the leadership to begin with, some of that that wouldn't have been necessary.

For a real world view of Kooch's effectiveness as a legislator, I think it's important to have some perspective. Dennis is obviously celebrated much more for his rhetoric, than his record. in US history. It was the biggest package that could get through Congress (thanks to Republican filibusters).

He wound up expending a lot of political capital on that.

And then he helped push health care reform and Wall Street reform through Congress.

And, then the Bush tax cuts for the super wealthy finally went away after he won re-election in 2012.

I guess in some fantasy world Republicans didn't exist, the filibuster didn't exist, and Blue Dog Democrats didn't need to be courted.

It's a childishly naive view to think all the problems were caused because Obama wanted to "screw the people."

That's the kind of crap one hears on Fox & Friends.

same people, you know, the ones who've been right all along, told us was the minimum needed to do the job, and even at that half of it consisted of tax credits that were useless to the millions that lost everything.

His reelection is, likewise, irrelevant since his primary accomplishment in his endless quest to placate people that hate him was to alienate enough people that wanted to support him that he was "shellacked" when it mattered. Just like he and the party are doing right now, again.

I didn't say he wanted to screw the people, those are your words. He chose to ignore sane advice from people who didn't collapse the global economy and sacrificed us in order please his masters.

I have no personal feeling about the President, I have never met him. Like millions of other Americans, I voted for him twice thanks in large part to the quadrennial clown car of republican candidates, but that doesn't change the facts you are determined to ignore any cost. Inconvenient facts like the one that we gave him and the party both houses of Congress as well as the White House and what we got in return was weak, ineffective half measures guaranteed to fail. The man proposed a Jobs Bill in 2011 that was said to create millions of jobs, yet it was blocked by our friends across the aisle. In spite of that, there have been roughly 37 consecutive months of job growth under this administration.
