"Just another asshole with a resume"

I just watched "The Company Men" again the other night. There is a wonderful scene where Ben Affleck's character goes to his wife's job to confront her after he finds out that she has not been paying the country club dues. She replies that they can no longer afford such things (she is a nurse, and nurses are nothing if not practical). Then she rails at him about spending money to get his Porsche detailed.

" I have to look successful," he says. "I can't look like just another asshole with a resume."

"You are just another asshole with a resume!" she snarls back.

And there a you have it, ladies and gentlemen. This is how the 1% views us. Whether we are employed or not, we are just assholes with resumes to them. They do not see us as human beings with rights, or with concerns of our own like kids to feed or bills to pay. They have no incentive to care what happens to us.I don't know what it is going to take to get more of us to wake up to that fact and all its implications, but there it is.
