Your politics don't matter
When you see people trapped in buildings, you are not thinking about who they or their parents voted for. You are thinking about saving a life and helping a fellow human.
I was driving across country with my niece and we came up on a car accident. I parked, got out, and offered assistance until the police and medics arrived (which took a few since it was out in the middle of nowhere).
For all I knew those people were polar opposites of me on many issues. I didn't care. I didn't ask.
Here in the US we send aid everywhere we can as soon as we can. Whether it is Iran or a country we are on better terms with. We put aside stupid differences and work out a way to help.
Oklahoma is a red state. So what. The blood of the people there run the same color as people everywhere. They are free to vote next year the same they did this year - people don't always agree with me, or others, on politics. Pick up a history book, has been that way since day 1.
I don't want this to be a 'teaching' moment to anyone there. I don't want to 'take advantage' of something that killed and injured many of my fellow humans to illustrate a point to them about something.
There are other times to discuss issues we don't agree on.
Using a tragedy like this is not one of those times.
