The birds are unusually quiet this morning in Austin and the sky has a green hue.

She's more accurate than the weather clowns on our local TV. If they're interrupting shows with all the severe weather warnings and she's relaxed as can be-it ain't gonna.
If she starts pacing nervously and disappears into the bathroom, you got 30-45 minutes before it hits-even when the weather guys are not warning us.

They had some mad dashes to the middle closet over the years. My dog, on the other hand, once went out during a hurricane to make sure his territory was still marked. Wish they'd had YouTube back then.

She is a very good indicator of severe weather.

The poor girl does not fare well with any level of thunderstorms. She scratches endlessly at the floor in a corner proceeding a thunderstorm.

Generally a Benadryll or two helps calm her anxiety if we know ahead of time. However the daytime storms when we are away at work and she is alone are the most traumatic.

and once the main part of the storm is over, she goes out and plays in the rain.

I had one dog that ALWAYS went out into the rain. One time he came in jumped on the bed and was shaking and I couldn't figure out what was bothering him. About 5 minutes later the phone rings and a friend tells me a tornado touched down about 2 miles away-luckily it just tore up a couple of trees before fading out.

Prior to bad weather he would stand up and howl at me like I could do something about it. Nice to think he held such high regard for me. Boy, I sure miss that dog. Glad yours is well enough and smart enough to protect its family.
