Climate Change Denier Inhofe Says Monster Tornado 'Hard to Explain'

Oklahoma Sen. James Inhofe (R), who maintains that global warming is a hoax created by former Vice President Al Gore and the United Nations, said on Tuesday that it was "hard to explain" why Monday's tornado was "so much worse."

Including many whose property has only a foundation slab left.

I live 11 miles from the storm track, and I can see this one was every bit as bad as the 1999 tornado that took almost a perfectly identical path, and probably even worse. The f4 rating is just preliminary. When you have neighborhoods wiped clean of EVERYTHING, you're looking at a probable f5 event.

Edit: yesterday's tornado has just now been officially rated an f5.

they happen every year... this one just happened to hit a heavily populated area.

what in my post lead you to believe that I have no sympathy for those with losses? all I am saying is that the storm is NOT out of the norm other than where it hit. there is no need to 'explain' an EF5 tornado... they happen.

now, go read something into someone else's post.

the suffering and damage, he is just pointing out that you can't single out one event and say, "Yep, global climate change".

Now, when the number of F4 and F5 tornadoes occurring each season increases, you begin to have a case. Let us not fall into the bad science practices of our opponents.

Environmental issues Inhofe, former chairman of the Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works, does not believe that human activities cause climate change.[32] In The Republican War on Science, Chris Mooney stated that Inhofe "politicizes and misuses the science of climate change".[33] On the other hand, Inhofe's view on climate change have been praised by Australian geophysicist and climate change skeptic Bob Carter, who says that Inhofe "has been instrumental in making sure that some of the other side of the story on climate change remains in the public domain."[34]

Inhofe often repeats his claim that human influenced climate change is a hoax and impossible because “God’s still up there.” and that it is “outrageous” and arrogant for people to believe human beings are “able to change what He is doing in the climate.

It's not climate change, and God didn't do it. However, if a person or a dog gets pulled out of wreckage, that's God's doing, and we should all pray to this god, (even though a supposedly benevolent omnipotent deity wouldn't have caused or allowed this thing in the first place -- Shhhh!). However, when bad things happen to bad liberal and coastal areas, it IS God's doing, and He is punishing the godless, the gays, and the abortionists.

Tue May 21, 2013, 05:09 PM

This is a guy who probably thinks that Gaawwwdd's hannnd is behind every little storm and shower there is in the world.

Jimmy boy, this tornado isn't hard to explain; it's May. Tornado season. And sometimes, big tornadoes DO happen in Oklahoma.

And by the way, one thing I should point out, though, is that though yesterday's tornado DID kill more people than the '99 tornado, the truth is, in many other respects, the May 3rd tornado was actually WORSE, including in intensity. And to be honest with you, I'm a little bothered by the hyperbole that the MSM engaged in while this whole thing: no, this was NOT the worst tornado ever recorded in American history, nor even that of the state of Oklahoma. It was bad, yes. Real bad. But not the worst, period.

Really wish the lamestream media would stop using so much hyperbole every time something like this happens.....frankly, not only is it a tad insensitive to those who suffered, but it's actually giving ammo to the deniers, including people like James Inhofe, too.
