I mean, suicide is what it is - a choice.

Remember when Nichelle Nichols brother killed himself as part of that doomsday cult, and she commented something along the lines of, 'that's what he wanted to do, what can I say', well, if you believe in the freedom to make decisions about your life and self-determination, then I mean, what is there left to say here?

Whether he's right-wing or left-wing or no-wing, it's sad, but it's water under the bridge.

but then it occurred to me that this guy may have had been mentally ill. In that case it was very sad that he did not get help instead of ending his life. Usually people that are so filled with hatred toward one particular group do not kill themselves, they try to kill members of the group the despise. I would not be surprised if he was emotionally unstable.

A lot of times these are the types that feel they need to make others pay the ultimate price for their own misery.

But lots of people who aren't mentally ill kill themselves for their cause. In the absence of such evidence I'll just chalk it up to doing society a favor.

that he, as an old white anti-gay dude, is feeling his grip on power and privilege slip away from him.

Who knows, maybe he was the world's most devoted anti-gay marriage crusader-- but I rather suspect he was just a very troubled person. There's no shortage of them.

He's one of god's chosen, so he's going to be just fine, of course.

Might Glenn Beck do likewise at Rick Warren's church, or Rick Santorum at St. Patrick's cathedral, perhaps? So many delicious options and combinations are possible!

....is that something else either mental or physical was going on with the guy and that gay marriage was just a convenient excuse.
