Looks like they found the source of the IRS cover-up: Darrell Issa

Inspector General: Treasury Informed Issa Of IRS Investigation In 2012

At a hearing Tuesday, Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration J. Russell George told the Senate Finance Committee that the Treasury Department informed Rep. Darrell Issa's (R-CA) office of its investigation into the IRS in 2012, and has had communications with this staff since then.

George's remarks under questioning from Sen. Bob Menendez (D-NJ):

Menendez: "Inspector General, did Chairman Issa send a letter on August 3rd of 2012 to all the inspector generals reminding them that under the Inspector Generals Act it requires IGs to report particularly flagrant problems to Congress through the agency head within seven days via what has become known as the seven day letter. Did you receive that letter? And, if so, did you respond to inform Chairman Isaa of your investigation into the IRS?"

George: "Senator, we did receive the letter, and Chairman Issa's committee was the first to actually contact us regarding this matter. And so through the course of engaging the review, on occasion we have had communications with his staff."

Menendez: "In 2012?"

George: "And since then, yes."

Menendez: "Thank you."

... for most if not all of his crimes in the past, and he knows that he won't have to answer criminally for it, even if he might have to answer to the voting public and hopefully get his ass voted out of office! I think the latter is certainly a worthwhile goal of pursuing to get all of this out on the table and continue to do so.

In addition to the criminal pasts that have been discussed in many other posts, I think it's important to point out this story of him getting arrested for speeding and his reaction to it (that was more recent than his earlier crimes). Evidently must have not been happy that his company's radar detector didn't help him in this case.

http://articles.latimes.com/2002/apr/27/local/me-issa27

He's always been a part of trying to "oust" Democrats and those he doesn't like from office, like Gray Davis. Additionally he was one of those who issued public statements on Carol Lam that gave the Bush administration rationale for firing her when she prosecuted Duke Cunningham and other Republican "crony" friends like Brent Wilkes and Dusty Foggo.

What was amusing there is that he was criticizing her "lack of effort" to prosecute illegal immigration. This article explains why this effort was so "wrong" as well...

I still have a lot of questions about the California recall of Grey Davis which he funded, and I believe cheated on. I think it could be investigated. I believe if the petition records are still available we can find out that the petitions signatures were obtained by fraud if there is the will to put investigators on it.

is that months before there was any mention at all of Arnold as a candidate, one of the cable networks ran the same Arnold movie over and over and over, for like 10 hours a day for a month.
I had no reason to make any connection to politics, I just thought that it was really friggin' odd.

It was a middle eastern terrorist type movie, always the same one.

Where are the articles regarding this? Absolutely none. Corporate media is still focused on Pres O re: 3 scandals.

I listened to Randi Rhodes about the so called IRS scandal which as I believed from the beginning is a non-story. It involves secret donors and money laundering. The so called "welfare groups" are actually political groups posing as one and now acting like they are innocent and the victim. Hopefully, lawsuits will open up documents to confirm this.

The corporate makes tons of money thru this group's advertising. Now ya'see why the corporate media is set on protecting their sugar daddy's. Journalism is no more. Money over truth. Money over the lives of the people.

I'm totally against removing Holder as the Attorney General and I definitely don't want a Republican in charge of the FBI. I approve of the DOJ investigations of the corporate media and I want more investigations of the Rightwing machinery. They are crying and calling this Nixonian but it has nothing to do with the Whitehouse period!

I do not consider FOX a news organization, more than a tool on the Republican party and their rightwing agenda. I do not consider many reporters in the Press journalists when they have bias agendas also. Many people will not know about Issa's background because the Press want inform them about it. If people knew his background, it would be damaging to his reputation and anything he says, just because of his past reputation, but the press has been silent on it. I consider that no less than a cover up by the main stream media. If it was a Democrat, I guarantee you they would be reporting that person's past history just to discredit them in the Public. I don't see why anybody would vote this man to Congress much less holding an important oversight position in that institution. Any average American with that kind of past history would be passed over for such an important decision making position.

Tue May 21, 2013, 07:34 PM
May 2013

This whole thing was a Rovian set-up job right from the beginning.

In fact, the people working in the IRS that did this can probably be 'linked' to Issa and/or Rove.

The goal here was to make sure that these groups get their tax-exempt status in the first go-round, and then to also stack the deck to make sure that the IRS are afraid to ever hamper their efforts to set up these groups in the future. And also to try to smear the President if they possibly can.

By speaking out about it earlier, well ... then the plan doesn't play out like it was meant to.

It's also no coincidence that the AP story and the Fox News reporter story both came out at the time this story broke. This is Rove's 'all-in' gambit to try to take Obama down. I believe everything we're seeing has all been carefully planned and coordinated, to take place at the same time as their 'blockbuster' Benghazi hearings.

Addison
