I got back late last night from ferrying a trailer full of supplies, arranged through a local church (a friend of mine who's a member knew I had a large trailer, so I got roped into hauling supplies.)
What they really need right now (in no particular order)?
-shoes & heavy boots
-dog and cat food
-feminine hygiene products
-tetanus shots (though the red cross is working on this one)
-plastic eating utensils & disposable plates/cups
-glucose meter test strips
-toilet paper and kleenex
-stuffed animals (heck, any toys, really)
What they don't need?
-sanctimonious reporters trying to goad people into crying on camera
-lookee-loo's driving around the edges of the destruction trying to snap a picture
-people pointing fingers
If you live within 200 miles, please consider reaching out to your local churches (even if you despise religion as I do) and see if they're sending supplies.

(41,832 posts)All money will be used DIRECTLY for immediate relief efforts in Moore and Shawnee, Oklahoma, such as food, bottled water, gloves, toiletries, tools for cleanup. After those needs are filled, we will donate ALL REMAINING money to families who have lost children in the May 20th, 2013 tornado that ravaged Moore, Oklahoma and other areas in Oklahoma.
