When money and "balanced budgets" become the most important thing in the world...

I was reading about a city in Oregon that cut their police force down to two cops and did not have the manpower to answer a call of a woman whose boyfriend was breaking into her house. They couldn't "afford" police protection without raising taxes. And their money was more important than saving lives.

Then we have the Senators from Oklahoma who want any "money" spent on aid for the tornado victims in their own state to be offset because we can't afford to help people anymore unless we cut the government someplace else?

When did this idea of "money" and "spending" become more important than government and making people's lives better? We can't afford it, they bellow.

But if we need a trillion dollars to invade a country and build up our war machine, no problem. These folks are the biggest hypocrites in the world. They have no concept of money or government.

When we reach the point where people are allowed to die rather than spend money we have not offset with other spending cuts, then we have moved into another dimension. We are rapidly moving to a place where a few people have their money locked away with an armed guard and everyone else is left to fend for themselves. The very concept of government is being destroyed by these few insane individuals.
